NDIS personal care and daily living support

Esteem Mentoring provides personal care and daily living support for NDIS participants across Moreton Bay and Brisbane. We help with showering, dressing, meals and everyday routines at home, in a way that respects your privacy and keeps you doing as much for yourself as you want to.

Help with the everyday, done respectfully

Personal care is personal. Letting someone help you shower or dress takes trust, and that trust takes time. We match you with workers you feel comfortable with, agree on how you like things done and keep the same people coming wherever we can.

We also keep an eye on independence. If you want to take on part of a routine yourself, we will plan for that and step back as you are ready.

Support may include

  • showering, bathing and personal hygiene
  • dressing, grooming and getting ready for the day
  • help with eating and drinking, where needed
  • meal planning, preparation and cooking
  • medication prompting and support in line with documented plans
  • light household tasks linked to your daily routine
  • morning and evening routines
  • getting ready for appointments, work or activities

Your preferences, written down

Before support starts we document how you like things done: the order of your routine, the products you use, cultural or gender preferences for your workers, communication needs and any health information your workers need to know. Every worker reads it before they arrive. If something changes, tell us and we update it.

Medication and health support

Our workers can prompt and support you with medication when it is documented in your plan, following our medication management procedures and the instructions from your doctor or pharmacist. We record medication support and report anything unusual straight away. We do not provide nursing or clinical care.

In-home respite for families and carers

Families and carers need a break too. Our workers can step in at home for a few hours, an afternoon or a regular block each week, following the participant's usual routines so the time feels normal for them. Many families pair in-home respite with a community outing, so the participant has something to look forward to while carers rest.

Who this support suits

Daily living support suits adults aged 18 to 65 who need a hand with personal care or routines, whether that is every morning, a few times a week or for a short period after a change in health or circumstances. It is often used alongside SIL, community access or mentoring.

Personal care questions

What does NDIS personal care include?

NDIS personal care, also called assistance with personal activities, covers help with tasks like showering, dressing, grooming, eating and daily routines. It is provided in your home or where you need it.

Can I choose a male or female worker?

Yes. Tell us your preference and we will match workers to suit wherever we can.

Can you help with medication?

Our workers can prompt and support you with medication when it is documented in your plan and in line with our medication procedures. We do not provide nursing care.

Do you offer respite?

Yes. We provide in-home respite, where a worker supports the participant at home so families and carers can take a break. It is usually funded from the Core budget. Community outings can also give carers some time off.

Can I get personal care for a short time only?

Yes, if your plan funds it. Some people need extra help for a while after a change in health or living situation. Talk with us about what you need.
